Kiambu Mall, the First Shopping Mall in Kiambu Town

,

Kiambu Mall is going to be the first and the largest shopping mall within Kiambu town once complete in November. The mall, which is being developed by the Mugaa Investments will change the shopping landscape in Kiambu and probably set the pace for other developments either within the town or its outskirts.

The major challenge has probably been the lack of adequate and convenient space for setting up a large supermarket, of which the Kiambu Mall is set to provide. However, there are some shopping malls along the Kiambu road, with Nakumatt supermarket occupying the Ridgeways Mall and Naivas set to occupy the upcoming Ciata City Mall along the Kiambu road.

The Kiambu Mall is strategically located in the heart of Kiambu town and near the Kiambu county headquarters. The four floors Kiambu Mall will have an area of 14,300 square meters and a parking space for over 100 vehicles.

Economic Activities in Kiambu County

Kiambu is ranked as the richest County in Kenya according to a survey by the World Bank. It has the highest Domestic Product per capita. In addition, Kiambu County is the second largest contributor to national wealth at 11.1%. Some of the investments include manufacturing companies in the industrial town of Thika, Ruiru and Limuru as well as cash crops such as coffee and tea. Other economic activities include dairy farming, food and other agricultural activities as well as and real estate investments.
Factors that favor Kiambu County are its proximity to Nairobi, fertile land and good weather all year round. Despite Kiambu County having many economic activity and high population, none of the country’s leading retailers: Nakumatt supermarket, Tuskys supermarket, Naivas supermarket, Uchumi supermarket and Ukwala supermarket have set up a shop in the busy Kiambu town.
However, Nakumatt, Tuskys and Naivas have branches in Thika town and along the busy Thika superhighway. Kiambu town is served by smaller retail chains such as the Kamindi supermarkets, Smart Home supermarket, Selfridges supermarket and Twiga supermarket.

Nakumatt to open first supermarket in Kiambu town

The Nakumatt supermarket chain is one of the major retailers who will be setting up shop in Kiambu Mall. By opening a supermarket in Kiambu, Nakumatt will become the first major supermarket in Kiambu town, and this will bring the total number of Nakumatt supermarkets to 58 branches countrywide and further increasing their lead.
The Kiambu Mall will provide space for other retailers, shops and offices. The mall will have a variety of sizes ranging from 1000 square feet for retail shops and 500 square feet for offices. In addition, there will be space for coffee shops, eateries, banking halls, restaurants and other facilities.

Please check with the different companies that are going to operate from the Kiambu Mall, otherwise, the mall is simply offering the space.
