The Hilton Garden Inn, a global hotel chain, is set to open a new hotel in Nairobi, Kenya.
The Hilton Garden Inn facilities and location
The Sh2.3 billion Hilton Garden Inn hotel will be located just before the Mombasa Rd/Syokimau Airport Rd junction near the JKIA resort club and in close proximity to the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).
The Hilton Garden Inn Nairobi, which sits on 1.3 acre piece of land is equipped with modern restaurants, a coffee shop, meeting rooms and a full bar, with a swimming located on the roof, the hotel is surrounded by well landscaped gardens. The structure of the building is set to be completed by December 2015 but the hotel will be opened in March 2016.
The hotel is being developed by Modern Reliance Industries Ltd, and sits next to Modern Reliance warehouse land, with the company saying it sourced funds from its equity in addition to a bank loan from DTB Bank.
The location is likely to attract business travellers and tourists checking in and out of the JKIA who seek to avoid the traffic jams that are common in Nairobi roads. Currently it takes more than 2 hours to travel from JKIA to the CBD using the road due traffic jams. Modern Reliance says they are also targeting customers working in companies around the area.
Modern Reliance signed a lease agreement with Hilton Worldwide for the franchise in the hope that the brand name, which is popular around the world, will attract both local and international customers to its services. This comes after Hilton Worldwide announced in 2013 that it had ceased owning hotels and instead had adopted a franchise model that is less expensive and more efficient for expansion. Hilton Worldwide also manages the Hilton Nairobi, a 287-room luxury hotel in the city centre.

Hilton Garden Inn franchise says it operates over 600 hotels in different locations around the globe offering a full service restaurant that offers cooked-to-order breakfast a full bar, state-of-the-art fitness centres, and 24/7 business centres featuring complimentary printing and Wi-Fi.
The Hilton Garden Inn will have 175 rooms and will begin recruiting staff in November, 2015 ahead of the March opening. The management says it will be priced at a lower rate than the five-star hotel along Mama Ngina Street in the CBD but hopes the brand will drive its revenue and maximize profitability.
Modern Reliance Industries Limited is a business group, located along Mombasa Rd, specialises in manufacturing agricultural equipment and supplies and is owned by two directors: Noorali Manji and Sachedina Sabdrudin.
The entry of this ultra-modern, business and tourist hotel in addition will definitely get a share of both international local and tourists. Further, the Hilton Garden Inn will boost the fast growing conference tourism sector.
